The Story

I’m Sarangi, a mother, an engineer, and a firm believer in sustainability. 🌱

Biking has been an integral part of my daily commutes, and our family’s adventures—long and short trips filled with scenic views and joyful breaks. The summer of 2023 was especially memorable when I got a new bike, and our little one loved being towed around. But as the season ended, so did my time with that bike—it was stolen. 💔 While insurance covered the cost, it couldn’t replace the emotional value attached to it. That’s when I asked myself: What if I could make my next bike unappealing to thieves in the first place? 🤔

That’s how Sticky Tofu was born: a simple, fun, and effective way to make bikes unappealing to thieves while keeping cycling stylish. 🚴‍♂️

My Team 👨‍👩‍👧

Behind the scenes, I have a small but mighty team—my husband, Lakshmi, and our daughter, Bubbee. Lakshmi is the backbone of the operation, handling SEO, website tweaks, and all the geeky behind-the-scenes work. He’s also my go-to sounding board, always offering insightful feedback that helps shape my ideas. Bubbee, on the other hand, is my constant source of joy and motivation—especially when she giggles every time I share my idea of making bikes look ‘yuck’ to deter thieves! She keeps me grounded and reminds me to embrace the fun in everything we do.

Why the name? 🧐✨

I wanted a name that was quirky, unexpected, and packed with meaning—just like our stickers!

Tofu stands for sustainability and health. It’s a staple in the plant-based world,  symbolising a conscious choice for the planet—just like biking.

Sticky because, well, our stickers stick—both literally and metaphorically. They make a statement, stay put, and deter thieves by making your bike look like a rusty old junk.

The result? Sticky Tofu—a brand that’s as fun as it is functional, with a mission to keep your bike safe while embracing a greener way of life. 🌍💚
